FEI Conference Report 2009

The third annual conference of Fashioning an Ethical Industry, 'Putting Ethics into Practice' took place on 11 March 2009 in London. For a number of years, we have been hearing of initiatives to improve the conditions in which our clothes are produced. The day aimed to find out how industry players are translating their ethical commitments into practical measures as well as to consolidate student knowledge about what they can do to influence the industry’s impact on working conditions.

Speakers included Liz Leffman of Clothesource, Antony Waller from People Tree, Paul Wright of ASDA George, Ruth Bergan of Homeworkers Worldwide, Kate Fletcher author of Sustainable Fashion and Textiles,  Kalpona Akter from Bangladesh Centre for Workers Solidarity and Dominic Eagleton, of Action Aid.
