Business Support Assistant
The Business Support Assistant is an important role supporting the General Manager of Sedex, a rapidly growing membership organisation. They are looking for a well-rounded candidate with excellent organisational skills who will enjoy the challenge of managing and supporting a small office environment.
Sedex is a membership organisation that enables companies to manage ethical and responsible practices in their supply chains. Sedex currently has more than 23,000 company members in 134 countries, growing at more than 600 members per month. Company members include world famous brands and retailers. Sedex’s core offering is a web-based database which strives to help companies make overall improvements in ethical and responsible practices globally. Sedex is based in London, with support staff in Shanghai, and plans to open an office in the Americas. Sedex currently has a team of 16 people with 2 based in China. Responsibilities:
• General Manger Support 1. Assist the General Manger with organising and co-ordinating meetings, events and diary management 2. Provide general assistance with the administration of Board meetings 3. Act as a point of contact for the Sedex Board of Directors
• Finance 4. Support the Finance Manager with credit control 5. Compile weekly debtor report and circulate to managers 6. Contact members regarding overdue debts
• Office management 7. Day-to-day management of office 8. Act as a key contact for suppliers of products and services to Sedex 9. Co-ordinate large meetings on behalf of the management team 10. Assist General Manager with day-to-day HR administration 11. Act as Health and Safety officer and CSR Officer for the organisation 12. Deliver induction programme to new starters
• Projects 13. Support management team with ad-hoc projects as required
Skills & Experience:
1. Proven professional experience working in a flexible office management role
2. Excellent organisation and observation skills
3. Professional and efficient telephone manner
4. High level of IT literacy
5. Expert use of all Microsoft Office packages
6. Proactive, team-player who is comfortable working in a small business environment where flexibility is required
7. Ability to multi-task
8. Ability to work effectively with individuals in all departments at all levels
9. Whilst not key criteria the following would be desirable:
o Experience with setting up and using conference call facilities
o Experience working in a global environment
o Interest in ethical trade, social auditing, responsible supply chain management
o Addition language(s) to English would be beneficial. Portuguese, Spanish, French, Turkish, Chinese or Indian dialects.
o Experience with HTML
o Knowledge of SAGE would be an advantage
Package: A base salary of £18-20k with pension and other benefits.
