23th April 2008

Conference - Teaching Ethical Fashion

Read a short summary of the days events.

This conference is essential for any tutors or educators teaching, or interested in teaching, ethical issues in fashion-related courses at higher or further education levels.  The focus will be mainly on teaching about workers' rights in garment manufacture, but educators involved in environmental issues and textile production may also find the conference useful.

Fashioning an Ethical Industry is producing a manual for tutors on fashion-related courses including design, buying, merchandising, business and marketing.  The manual will provide ideas for teaching activities from assignments to discussion questions, from design briefs to role-plays. The manual will also feature opinion pieces and case-studies of how educational institutions have included these issues in their teaching.  Contributions are being written by educators from Australia, the USA, Netherlands, Austria and the UK.

This conference will feature speakers presenting their contribution to the manual as well as industry speakers.

The event will take place at the Innovation Centre, Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London

Southampton Row, London WC1B 4AP, UK from 9:30am registration (10am start) until 4:30pm.

ENTRANCE TO THE EVENT WILL BE BY TICKET ONLY. To book your place please email info_(at)_fashioninganethicalindusty.org (replace _(at)_ with @) with your name, email, telephone number, university and course or organisation and position.

Entrance is £20 for tutors in further or higher education and £35 for others.
