FEI CONFERENCE: Ethics of Fashion or Fashion of Ethics?

Companies are keen to be seen responding to shoppers' demands for more ethical clothes. Is ethical consumerism here to stay? Alone, will it improve conditions for garment workers?
This year the Fashioning an Ethical Industry Conference is heading north to Manchester. The event will take place at the Zion Arts Centre, 335 Stretford Road, Manchester, M15 5ZA. For a map click here.
Registration for the event will start at 12.00pm for a 1.00pm start. The main body of the event will go on until 6.00pm and will be followed by a reception until 7.00pm. From 7.00 - 8.30pm we will be showing the award winning film China Blue. The event is open to fashion students, tutors and other interested parties.
The programme for the event has now been finalized and we have contributions from Suki Chung (Labour Action China), Vicky Betts (Arkadash Fair Trade retailers), Kate Fletcher (sustainable fashion consultant), Mary Rayner (Ethical Consumer Magazine), Martin Hearson (Labour Behind the Label), Katharine Hamnett (designer) and Dilys Williams (Head of Sustainable Fashion at London College of Fashion).
The event is free for students and £75.00 for others. Bursaries for tutors are available. If you are a tutor and would like to apply for a bursary please mention this when you book.
