Just Style name the living wage debate as one of the issues to watch in 2008
Growing pressure is mounting on companies to ensure that the workers making their clothes earn a living wage. A living wage is one which enables workers to meet their needs for nutritious food and clean water, shelter, clothes, education, health care and transport, as well as providing a discretionary income. Just Style predict that in 2008 the debate is likely to 'hot up even more... with discussion around what exactly is a living wage, who is going to pay for the extra costs incurred, and are retailers doing enough to question their need for high gross margins?'
