After the 1st year, all years cover various principles of sustainable and ethical fashion in the undergraduate degree. Students from overseas institutes can study at UTS for one semester as an exchange student or study abroad student. Selected UTS students have taken part fashion events such as the Australian 'Greenpages' fashion show. UTS graduate Rachel Cassar won Mittelmoda in 2007 with her collection utilising 90%recycled materials. The course focuses on issues that directly relate to the Australian industry. Additionally, the issue of globalization is explored particularly because of a close proximity to Asia. Issues including environmental problems are researched and introduce students to strategies and concepts that may provide solutions. 2009 will host a sustainable fashion exhibition which includes international experimental fashion projects.
